Wake Forest's Dave Bush and Georgia Tech's Mark
Teixeira earned the first Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player and
Pitcher of the Week honors this season respectively.
Pitcher of the Week honors are claimed by Wake Forest right-hander Dave
Bush. The junior, who hails from Devon, Pa., made an appearance in each
of the Demon Deacons' games striking out five of the 12 batters faced in
his 3.2 innings pitched. Bush allowed no runs on only one hit and
earned a save in the 10-5 win over Penn State.
Teixeira, a junior third basemen earns ACC Player of the Week honors
after leading Georgia Tech against Lamar, No. 7 Rice and No. 4 Nebraska
in the Rice Invitational. For the week, the Severna Park, Md., native
totaled six hits, five RBI and two homeruns. He finished his first 11
at bats with a .545 hitting percentage and an on base percentage of
.667. The Yellow Jackets faced each team's top pitcher with Teixeira
concluding the three game weekend with a 1.182 slugging percentage.
