HIGH POINT, N.C. - Matt Price went 4-for-6 with seven RBI and Corey
Slavik went 4-for-4 with six RBI to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a
19-4 victory over the High Point Panthers on Monday.
Ben Clayton started the game and pitched five innings, giving up
one run on two hits to pick up his second win of the season and run his
record to 2-0. For High Point, David White pitched three innings,
surrendering eight runs on five hits to take the loss for the Panthers.
Wake Forest jumped on top with three runs in the top of the first.
All three runs were driven in by Corey Slavik's home run, the first of two
he would hit on the day. High Point answered with a run in the bottom half
of the second, but Wake came back with five runs in the third to break the
game open.
Price homered to go along with Slavik's two home runs in leading
the Deacons at the plate. Kemp Smith hit a solo home run to lead High Point.
With the win, Wake Forest improves to 4-2 on the season, while High
Point drops to 3-6 with the loss. The Deacons will be back in action when
they host the Davidson Wildcats on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The first pitch is
set for 2:30 p.m. at Hooks Stadium.
