Demon Deacons Edged By UCF, 5-4

ORLANDO, Fla. - The 21st-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons grabbed a 4-0
lead
early, but the 23rd-ranked Central Florida Golden Knights came back in
the
last three innings to defeat the Deacons 5-4 on the second day of the
ACC-Disney Blast at Disney's Wide World of Sports on Saturday.
Wake Forest pitcher Danny Borrell had a shutout going through the first
five
innings, but gave up a run in the sixth and two in the seventh before
being
pulled in favor of Brad Comer (0-1) who gave up the final two runs in
the
eighth.
Wake jumped on top early with a run in the first inning. Borrell flied
out
to center field to bring in Cory Sullivan to give the Deacs the 1-0
lead.
The Deacons added a run in the third when Chase Voshell singled to
center
bringing in Borrell. Wake then scored two runs in the fourth to increase
its
lead to 4-0. Sullivan singled to score Matt Price for the first run. The
inning's second run was scored when Jason Aquilante singled to left
field to
bring Sullivan home.
Central Florida scored its first run in the sixth inning to cut the
Deacs'
lead to 4-1, and then scored two in each of the seventh and eighth
innings
to make the final score 5-4.
Wake Forest was led by Cory Sullivan and Jason Aquilante with two hits
and
one RBI apiece. Chase Voshell and Danny Borrell also drove in runs for
the
Deacs.
Wake Forest falls to 0-2 with the loss and will play the Rice Owls
Sunday at
9 a.m. UCF improves to 1-1 with the win and will face the Clemson Tigers
on
Sunday at noon.
