About Young... Veteran lefthander who is coming off shoulder surgery... missed all of last season due to the surgery... hard worker... student of the game... will add depth to the pitching staff... transferred to Wake Forest from Tulane University prior to the 2006 season... spent the summer of 2006 with the Kamuela Paniolos of the Hawai'i Collegiate Baseball League... majoring in economics... born on Dec. 31, 1985 in Santa Monica, Calif... son of Ken & Jill Young.

In 2007... Missed the entire season due to shoulder surgery.

In 2006... Went 2-1 with an 8.83 ERA in 12 relief appearances... pitched 17.1 total innings with four strikeouts. In 2005 at Tulane... Redshirted the season.

Prior to Wake Forest... Two-year letterman at Harvard-Westlake HS for coach Tim Cunningham... earned Daily News All-Star honors and was named his team's Most Improved Player after going 7-5 with a 1.51 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 67.0 innings as a senior... helped lead the Wolverines to the playoffs and advance to the CIF finals in 2003... tossed three one-hit outings his final year as a prepster, including an 11-strikeout performance against La Cañada... also lettered twice in football where he threw for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding over 500 yards and five scores on the ground... member of the National Latin Honor Society.
