Dec. 19, 2006 Earlier this month, 118 Wake Forest student-athletes wrapped, bagged and delivered presents to 997 children in 263 families in Winston-Salem and the surrounding area. The Santa's Helper Board gets the names of families from the Salvation Army and student-athletes and other volunteers from Wake Forest and the community wrap and bag two new age and gender appropriate gifts for each child on the list. Student-athlete Santa's and elves deliver the presents in two shifts the following day. Santa's Helper was started by former Deacon football player, Chip Rives, and is in it's 20th year. |
