MAAC Announces Post Season Waterpolo Awards

Junior Stacey Travous was named to both the All-MAAC Academic and First Teams

April 29, 2006

Poughkeepsie, NY -- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference held their postseason awards banquet earlier this evening on the campus of Marist College and the Wagner Seahawks were well represented. The Green & White and junior captain Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) were presented with their third straight regular season trophy as the evening's award session kicked off.

The Seahawks also had a nice showing on the All-MAAC teams. Senior Courtney Crase (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga), junior Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley), and sophomore Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) all were tabbed for the first team. Hoelck, Travous and Crase make up the first, second and fourth leading scorers in the conference at 84, 71, and 51 goals respectively.

Senior Sara Kramer (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) and Hauck led the way on the All-MAAC second team. Kramer is the seventh leading scorer in the conference at 49 goals while Hauck is fourth in the conference with over 190 saves.

Finally the Seahawks showed their skills in the classroom by placing four players on the All-MAAC Academic team. Kramer joined Stacey Travous, Corrine Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley), and junior Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton Union).

The Seahawks return to action for the MAAC Championship game tomorrow afternoon at 2pm against the Marist Red Foxes. The winner of that game will move onto the NCAA tournament field of eight.
