Edison, NJ -- The MAAC released their weekly water polo awards earlier today and two Wagner College Seahawks were honored. Junior Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week while junior Yvette Viramontes (Montebello, CA/Montebello) was named Co-Rookie of the Week.

Hoelck had a monster weekend for the Seahawks piling up 19 goals including seven in a win over St. Francis and four in a close loss to Marist in Poughkeepsie. She then came back on Sunday and tallied three goals in a tight loss to Iona while tacking on five in a win over Siena. To that she added three assists while tacking on eight steals and six drawn ejections. She now has 74 goals on the season which ranks her among the top ten in the nation.

Yvette Viramontes was named MAAC Co-Rookie of the Week for the first time this season

Viramontes, a newcomer this year to the MAAC tallied six goals over the weekend as Wagner went 2-2 in MAAC play. She added two assists, two steals, and drew four ejections in the four contests.

Hoelck, Viramontes, and the rest of the Seahawks (11-14, 3-3 MAAC) are back in action this Saturday at Iona College when they take on Iona and Villanova.
