New Rochelle, NY -- The Wagner College women's water polo team rebounded from their first conference loss of the year with a convincing 10-4 win over the Villanova Wildcats. The victory puts the Seahawks at 24-13 overall and they end conference play at 9-1 good for their third straight regular season championship.

For the second straight game Wagner jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, and for the second straight game they saw their opponent rally to tie the score. This time the Wildcats, who were looking to avoid being beaten by Wagner for the third time this season tallied three goals in the second period to knot the score at three at the half.

The third quarter saw the proverbial flood gates open as the Green & White precipitated five goals on the Villanova defense and led after three quarters 8-4. Wagner would blank the Wildcats in the fourth while adding two more goals en route to the win.

Junior Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton Union) and sophomore Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U of San Diego HS) led the scoring attack with three goals apiece. Amber McMichael (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) added two goals while Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley) and Nicole Maichrowicz (Temple City, CA/Temple City) chipped in with a goal apiece. Travous also was stellar on the defensive end holding Villanova leading scorer Kim Pare to just a goal.

Junior Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) played the majority of the game in goal refunding seven Villanova shots. Freshman Jennifer Anderson (Whittier, CA/La Serna) came on in the fourth quarter to relieve Hauck and help continue the final period shutout.
