Stats

Loudonville, NY --The Wagner College women's water polo team came back from an early morning defeat against Iona to hammer Siena College 15-8 in their second game of the day in a game played at Siena College. The win improves Wagner to 11-14 on the season and 3-3 in MAAC play.

Wagner got things started early as Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) scored just 49 seconds into the game to put Wagner up 1-0. Hoelck would add three more goals in that period and the Seahawks were up 6-2 after the first period. Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) and Amber McMichael (Reading, PA/Gov. Mifflin) also scored in that first period outburst.

The second quarter saw the Green & White pitch a shutout while scoring three of their own as Hoelck, Camille Karimzad (Walnut Creek, CA/Campolindo) and Yvette Viramontes (Montebello, CA/Montebello) all registered scores to build a Wagner lead to 9-2 at the half. Wagner continued to pour it on in the second half with Viramontes and Karimzad each scoring again while freshman Amanda Owen (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) scored her first two collegiate goals in her career to balloon the Seahawk lead to 13-5 headed to the fourth.

In the fourth McMichael scored again and Karimzad tallied her third score for the hat trick as Wagner cruised to the 15-8 victory. Senior Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) recorded 12 saves on the day in net while adding an assist and a steal.

The Seahawks return to the pool next Saturday when they travel to New Rochelle, New York to battle the Iona Gaels and Villanova Wildcats.
