Stats

Loudonville, NY -- In a statistical oddity the Wagner College women's water polo team followed their lowest scoring output of the season with their highest, all in the same day. After edging Iona 5-4 earlier today, Wagner came back in the nightcap and blew the doors off Siena by a count of 22-9. The victory moves Wagner to 17-12 overall and 2-0 in MAAC play. The scoring bonanza saw eight different players find the net including five goals apiece for senior Sara Kramer (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) and junior Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley).

The Green & White jumped out to a 3-0 lead before holding an 11-6 halftime advantage. Wagner then outscored the Saints 11-3 in the second half to go on to the 13 goal victory. Outside of the goals from Kramer and Travous, Wagner received three goals from senior Courtney Crase (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) along with three assists. Junior Natasha Peterson (Whittier, CA/La Habra) tallied three goals of her own along with an assist and two steals. Junior defensive specialist Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton Union) provided a buffet of numbers scoring two goals, dishing out two assists, and ripping two steals.

The scoring express rolled along with two tallies from sophomore Camille Karimzad (Walnut Creek, CA/Campolindo) and a goal apiece for Nicole Maichrowicz (Temple City, CA/Temple City) and Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS). Maichrowicz and Hoelck also added four assists each, while Karimzad finagled two steals of her own.

Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) returned to the net after sitting out the earlier game. She split quarters with freshman Jennifer Anderson (Whittier, CA/La Serna). The dynamic duo combined to rebuff 10 Siena shots.

Wagner returns to the water tomorrow with two more MAAC games against St. Francis (NY) at 12:00 pm and Marist at 4:30 pm. The games are being hosted by Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
