Stats

Poughkeepsie, NY -- The Wagner College women's water polo team was subdued by #13 Hartwick 15-6 earlier today in a game played at Marist College. With the loss the Seahawks have now dropped six in a row and fall to 7-11 on the season.

The game was never really close as Hartwick jumped out on Wagner 8-0 by the end of the first half. The Green & White attempted a rally to start the second half as they scored the first three goals. Junior Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) tallied two scores and sophomore Nicole Maichrowicz (Temple City, CA/Temple City) added another to cut the score to 8-3 in favor of Hartwick with a little over five minutes to go in the third. Hoelck also contributed with four steals and three drawn ejections.

Hartwick then scored two of the next three goals to lead 10-4 at the end of third period. Senior Natasha Peterson (Whittier, CA/La Habra) scored the other goal for Wagner in that period. The fourth quarter saw more of the same as Hartwick would go on to outscore the Seahawks 5-2 to end the game winners at 15-6. Seniors Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley) and Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton) added goals for Wagner in that period. Travous also added five drawn ejections.

Senior Katie Hauck, (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) the current MAAC Defensive Player of the Week went the whole way in goal deflecting 16 Hartwick shots while adding two steals and two assists.

Wagner is next in action this Friday night when they host Queens College at the Spiro Sports Center at 7pm. This game will also serve as senior night to honor the Seahawks five seniors.
