Brooklyn, NY - Wagner volleyball sophomore outside hitter Brandy Barnett (Claremont, CA/St. Lucy's Priory) was named to the All Northeast Conference Second Team tonight at an award's banquet at Long Island University on the eve of the 2006 NEC Women's Volleyball tournament.

As voted on by the league's head coaches, the all-conference award is the first such accolade of Barnett's young collegiate career.

A major contributor in the reason for the Seahawks' recent successes, Barnett was named NEC Player Of The Week in two of the previous three weeks. She is averaging 3.53 kills per game - good for fifth best in the conference - and 3.01 digs per game.

The Player Of The Year award was given, in an unanimous decision, to Long Island University junior outside hitter Martina Wagner.

The tournament begins tomorrow when #4 Central Connecticut State battles #5 Farleigh Dickinson at 10 a.m. The #6 seeded Seahawks follow at 12:30 pm when the face-off against #3 Robert Morris.
