Match Notes

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The sixth seeded Wagner College Seahawks volleyball team returns to the postseason for the first time since 2001 this weekend when they meet up with No. 3 Robert Morris at 12:30 pm on Saturday, Nov. 18 in the first round of the NEC Tournament on the campus of Long Island in Brooklyn, NY. If they win they will face off with No. 2 St. Francis (PA) in the day's final match at 6:30 pm. Win there and the Seahawks would play for the NEC Championship on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 1:00 pm.

Wagner At The NEC Tourney:
• 4-13 all-time in nine appearances (`92, `93, `94, `95, `96, `97, `98, `99, `01)

• This is the fourth-time the Green & White have qualified for the tourney since 1998. Before that all NEC teams were included in the postseason tournament.

• Back In 1997, Wagner won the school's first and only NEC Tournament title defeating No. 3 RMU in the opening match by the slimmest of margins 3-2. The Green & White then took down top seeded SFPA 3-1 before closing out the Red Flash in a rematch in the winner's bracket final 3-1. The Seahawks then lost at Lehigh in a NCAA Tournament play-in match for the right to go to the Big Dance.

• This season Wagner qualified for their first NEC Tournament since the 2001 season going 9-22 and 4-4 in NEC play. The nine wins are the most since the 1999 team won 12 and the four conference victories are the most since 2001.
