Hamilton, NY - The Wagner Seahawks lost to Central Arkansas 3-0 in the Seahawks' first match of the Colgate Invitational. The Green & White fell by scores of 30-20, 30-22, 30-18 and are now 2-4 on the season while the Sugar Bears are 12-1.

The potent Central Arkansas attack out-hit Wagner .281-.031 and registered 44 kills compared to just 30 for the Green & White.

Junior Kelly Kasper (Jr., West Windsor, NJ / Windsor Plainsboro South) continued her strong play with a team-best seven kills, on .273 hitting. Classmate Sarah Garrette (Barrington, IL / Barrington) and sophomore Alex Klein's (Cresent Springs, KY / Notre Dame Academy) each added six kills while Gabi Hilk (Wilmington, DE / Alexis I. DuPont) had 29 assists to round out the offensive stalwarts. Freshman Jennifer Lechman (Effingham, IL / Effingham) paced the defense with a match-high 10 digs.

Chloe Smith (11 kills) and Emily Gordon (10 kills) led the way for Central Arkansas.

Wagner will wrap up play in the Colgate Invite tomorrow with matches against Fairleigh Dickinson (12:30 pm) and the host Red Raiders (3:00 pm).
