Staten Island, NY -- Wagner College women's swimming head coach Sean Raffile has announced the signing of four incoming student-athletes in the early National Letter of Intent signing period. The Seahawks have received committments from Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT), Caitlin Moore-Penaskovic (Dover, NH), Sarah Plucinsky (Allentown, PA), and Shannon Silber (Voorhees, NJ).

Brown will bring expertise in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle with her top recorded times of 25.7, 55.6, and 1:59.7 respectively. She also has experience in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:07.2 and 2:29.8. Moore-Penaskovic will add depth to the backstroke department as she swims both the 100 and 200. Her top times are 1:00.2 and 2:10.2 respectively.

Plucinsky is another solid freestyle swimmer added to the group specializing in the 50 and 100 free with top times of 25.0 and 54.7. Silber rounds out the group as a jack of all trades. She takes part in the 50, 100, and 200 free with top times of 24.8, 53.8, and 1:58.7. In addition she swims the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke as well as the 100 backstroke. Silber has recorded top times of 1:09.4 and 2:33.0 in the two breaststroke events and 1:03.4 in the 100 backstroke.

Coach Raffile is extremely please with this group set to join the Seahawk family, "I am so excited to see this group of young ladies come in and have the opportunity to make an immediate impact. Bethny, Caitlin, Sarah and Shannon have the potential to qualify for championship finals in each event they swim at the NEC's. They are all very strong student-athletes and are will be wonderful assets to the college both academically and athletically. I think with these bright young additions we will come one more step closer to our overall goal of winning an NEC Team Championship. They are extremely important pieces to the puzzle," he said.

The Wagner Seahawk swim team will be back in action this Saturday when they take on Columbia University in an away meet.
