Somerset, NJ - The Wagner women's swimming team has been picked second in the Northeast Conference coach's poll for the 2007-2008 season. Wagner enters the season with hopes of capturing its first Northeast Conference title. Third year head coach Sean Raffile returns a talented lineup that includes three all-NEC selections from a year ago. Three-time all-NEC honoree Jess Radka (Reading, PA/Holy Name), who holds the NEC record in the 100 butterfly, returns for her senior season, after finishing second in the 100 and 200 butterfly at last year's championships. Two-time all-NEC selection Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) also returns after placing second in the 500 and 1650 freestyle a year ago. Radka and Tomlinson also helped the Seahawks to a second place finish in the 800 freestyle relay. Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT/Chesire), an all-NEC performer last season, enters her sophomore season with hopes of improving on a second place finish in the 400 medley. Rounding out a balanced Wagner team is sophomore Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) who placed fourth in the 100 butterfly, while also helping to lead the Seahawks to a pair of top three finishes in the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays. After starting off the season with two wins at the Central Connecticut State Invitational on Saturday, the Seahawks return to action on Friday, October 19th at the Sonny Werblin Invitational in Piscataway, NJ. |
