Brigitta Roser Named NEC Swimmer of the Week

Senior Brigitta Roser was named NEC swimmer of the week

Jan. 23, 2007

Staten Island, NY -- The Northeast Conference announced their weekly awards for women's swimming earlier today and Wagner senior Brigitta Roser (Ithaca, NY/Lansing) was named swimmer of the week. This is the first such honor for Roser, and the first NEC award of the season for the Seahawks.

On Senior Day in Staten Island, Roser competed in stellar fashion, as she took home two first place finishes for the Seahawks. As teammates honored the graduating co-captain, Roser captured the individual title in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.88, the event which she is currently the program record-holder. The Ithaca, NY native then came back and took the 100 back (1:02.58) as Wagner downed conference-foe Mount St. Mary's (141-68). In the current conference rankings, Roser sits second in both the 100 yard freestyle (53.22) and the 200 yard freestyle (1:52.94).

This honor is just the second ever in Wagner College swimming history and the first since Shannon Johnston won the honor way back on January 28, 2003.

Wagner will be back in action this coming Saturday, January 27, when they travel to New Britain, CT to take on NEC foe Central Connecticut State.
