Staten Island, NY -- The Wagner College swim team competed in their final event of 2006 falling to Columbia earlier today on the campus of Columbia University by a count of 179-83. Despite the loss the Seahawks still had quite a few impressive individual performances.

It started well in the second event when freshman Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT/Chesire) took second place in the 400 yard IM with a count of 4:41.58. That was followed by senior Brigitta Roser (Ithaca, NY/Lansing) winning another 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.14. Roser also locked up first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.08.

Moving along to the fifth event of the day, senior Amanda Males (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg) landed in third place in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 33.44. Fresh off her appearance at the US Open Championships, junior Jess Radka (Reading, PA/Holy Name) was second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.75.

The 10th event of the day, the 100 yard breaststroke saw the Seahawks dominate picking up first and second place. Senior Kate Wilson (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) was in first at 1:10.99 while classmate Nicole Paduano (North Haven, CT/North Haven) was in second at 1:11.09.

The 500 yard freestyle was the next event and quite the story as again the Green & White were in first and second place. Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) was clocked in first at 5:10.78, while Colleen Bowman (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) was right behind in second at 5:14.09. Rounding things out on the day was freshman Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) took third in the 50 yard butterfly at 27.47.

Wagner now will look forward to their yearly training trip in the beginning of January where they will head to San Diego, CA. After that they will have their first home meet of the season on January 19 against Mount Saint Mary's.
