Staten Island, NY - The Wagner swimming team lost their second meet of the year to the Columbia Lions in Spiro Sports Center. The Seahawks posted 75.5 points to Columbia's 183.5. With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 4-2 on the season.

The most exciting match up came in the 200 breaststroke where sophomore Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire CT/Chesire) ended the race in a dead on tie with Columbia swimmer Delghir Urubshurow at 2:31.12 causing a split of the first place points. Rodriguez-Lapman also placed second in the 100 yard individual medley at 1:04.77 and third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 10:50.63.

Freshman Bethny Brown (Endfield, CT/Endfield) brought her A-game to the table in the 1000 freestyle, taking second place at 10:36.29 while senior Halley Allen (Bryan, TX/Bryan) brought a second place finish to the table in the 50 yard backstroke, finishing in 28.41 seconds. In the 50 butterfly, the Seahawks captured their highest point total for one race as sophomore Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) placed second with a time of 27.08 followed by senior Lindsey Rodgers (Anaheim Hills, CA/Fullerton JC) in third place at 28.08 and senior Heather Roman-Green (Woodstock, NY/University of Bridgeport) finished in 29.77, good for a fourth place finish.

The Seahawks will now enjoy the Holidays and will hit the pool again on January 7th where they travel to the sunny Miami, Florida for winter training. Wagner's next competitive is a home meet on January 19th against NEC competitors Mount St. Mary's and Sacred Heart.
