July 19, 2007 Staten Island, NY -The Wagner Seahawks' soccer team has released their 2007 schedule. This year's schedule features 20 games including nine NEC games with nine games at home and 11 on the road. The Seahawks will open the season with a non-conference exhibition match against the Panthers of Adelphi University (8/18). Then the Seahawks will travel to Orangeburg, NY to play Dominican College (8/20) in their final preseason tune-up. Sandwiched in between the two games is the alumni game which will take place at noon on August 19 at the Wagner College Stadium. Wagner will then hit the road again, this time to Philadelphia, PA to take on LaSalle University (8/31) in the season-opener. Wagner will then host the Leopards of Lafayette College at 4 pm on September 5 in their home opener. On September 9 Siena College will pay the Seahawks a visit before Wagner plays five consecutive road games. The road trip begins with a homecoming trip of sorts for Wagner's three native Floridians as the Green & White ascend on Jacksonville, FL for a two game set. First the Seahawks will square of with the Big South's Coastal Carolina University (9/14) in what should be a tough match up. The second game pits Wagner against Western Michigan University (9/16) out of the tough Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Seahawks will then make their way back north but not before a stop in Annapolis, MD to take on Navy (9/20). Wagner next hits up Philadelphia, PA where they will play Drexel University (9/22). The road trip concludes with a trip to Nutmeg State with a game against the Stags of Fairfield University (9/27). Wagner then gets a much-needed home game on September 30 when the Green & White welcome Division-1 newcomer NJIT. Then it's back to the road again for the Seahawks as they open up NEC play in Maryland against Mount St. Mary's (10/5). The girls will come right back two days later as they take on conference rival and 2006 NEC runner-up Monmouth in West Long Branch, NJ. From there the Seahawks will host their first NEC game when defending champ LIU comes to Staten Island (10/13). Sacred Heart is the next conference foe as Wagner will host the Pioneers on October 19. The Seahawks continue conference play two days later when Fairleigh Dickinson will come to town. The Seahawks will then hit the road for a pair against conference rivals Quinnipiac (10/25) and Central Connecticut St. (10/28) before returning home. The girls will then wrap up their NEC slate with matches against St. Francis (PA) (11/2) and Robert Morris (11/4). Wagner welcomes back 13 letterwinners and seven starters from last year's team. |
