Box Score

Jacksonville, FL - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team were edged by a goal this evening 3-2, as Coastal Carolina (2-3-0) overcame two Seahawk scores with a hat trick from their senior Ashleigh Gunning which included the game-winner with just ten minutes remaining. The game was the first of two for Wagner in the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. The Seahawks move to a record of (1-3-0) on the year.

The Seahawks were sitting pretty at halftime with a 1-0 lead after sophomore midfielder Dominique Bonura (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Immaculata) found fellow sophomore forward Brooke Keany (Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) for her first goal of the season just 11 seconds into the contest.

However, Coastal senior Ashleigh Gunning got busy in the second half, notching her first of three goals unassisted in the 55th minute that knotted up the count at one.

The Seahawks would counter right back though, this time with the first collegiate goal of freshman forward Briana Vassallo's (Saddle Brook, NJ/Paramus Catholic) young career on an assist from junior defender Josefine Allain (Centerville, MA/Barnstable) in the 70th minute.

The Lady Chanticleers answered right back a minute later on Gunning's second goal of the game, this time with an assist from Samantha Teijelo.

Tied up until the 79th minute, Coastal Carolina received the game-winner from none other than Gunning once again, completing her hat trick with a score off a bicycle kick that put the ball just out of the reach of junior goalkeeper Leslie Reed (Indian Harbour Beach, FL/Satellite) - who finished with three saves.

Next up for the Seahawks is the final game of their Jacksonville trip when they'll face off against Western Michigan University at 2:30 p.m. this Sunday.
