April 24, 2007

Staten Island, NY -Junior Emily Noelker (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) - who shot two rounds of 80 and finished in sixth place overall at the Seahawks' last event the Monmouth Hawk Invitational in the beginning of April - looks to help carry the rest of the Green & White into contention in what is the granddaddy tourney of their entire season, the Northeast Conference Championship that tees off this Friday.

This year players from around the NEC will compete in Hershey, Pennsylvania; the site of the Hershey Chocolate Factory, Hershey Theme Park, and Wilt Chamberlain scoring 100 points there one night back in 1962.

The par-71 Hershey East Course is a golf enthusiast's dream featuring raised greens, three man-made lakes, and more than 100 bunkers. The East Course has hosted several PGA tournaments, most recently the Nationwide Tour's REESE'S Cup Classic, an event on professional golf's development tour. The East Course abounds with natural hazards, daunting greens, and sparkling lakes. The course stretches 7,061 yards, has a rating of 74.5 and a 136 slope. This course was designed by George Fazio in 1970.

The conference championship is a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding the team's four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers are selected as all-NEC performers.
