Nov. 12, 2006 Boone, NC - The Wagner College Wrestling team lost their first match of the new season today, falling to Appalachian State, 46-3. The Seahawks were highlighted by freshman Robert Rivera (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) winning in a decision (8-4) against ASU grappler Brandon Brothers in the 197 lb. weight class. All other Seahawk wrestlers were either pinned or fell short to their opponent, with the exception of an exhibition match that saw heavyweight John Graeffe (Jr., Moscow, PA/Scranton Prep) win in a decision over fellow heavyweight Derrick Calloway, 3-2. The Seahawks match comes tomorrow when they face off against Duke, Gardner-Webb, and Newberry in Boone, North Carolina. |
