Farmingdale, NY - Freshman Jeffrey Smolar (Jackson, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) finished in a tie for 47th with a two-round score of 161 (82/79) to help guide the Seahawks to a 13th place finish (out of 14 teams) in the two-day Hofstra Invitational yesterday afternoon. Junior Christopher Fourman (Greenville, OH/Greenville) finished just two strokes behind Smolar with a 163 - an 86 followed by an impressive final round 77 - good enough for a tie for 55th.

Following Fourman was another Seahawk newcomer, freshman Thomas Abramoski (Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) who finished in a tie for 67th (87/87) followed by fellow rookie Brian Conlan (Highland Milles, NJ/John S. Burke Catholic) who shot a combined 176 (80/96) for a 69th place finish.

Junior Chris Meehan (Scotch Plains, NJ/Morristown Beard) rounded out the Green & White with a total of 183 (94/89), tying for 71st overall. Siena College took the team title with a score of 587. Wagner finished with a tally of 667.

Siena's Dan Abbondandolo (71-69-140) won the individual title on the first playoff hole, defeating Fordham's Niko Mizono (71-69-140).

The tournament was held at the prestigious Bethpage State Park Red Course. The "Black Course" was the site of the 2002 U.S. Open and will host the championship again in June of 2009.
