Wagner Men Remain In Tenth Going Into Final Round Of NEC Championships

Senior Chris DeCarlo is in a tie for 29th going into the final round today

May 6, 2007

Sunset Beach, NC - The Wagner Men's Golf found themselves - just like after one round -- in tenth place after the second day of play of the 2007 NEC Championship at the Sea Trail Golf Resort. With a combined score of 647, they currently trail the ninth place team, Farleigh Dickinson University, by 28 strokes and hold an 89 stroke advantage on the last place team, St. Francis (NY).

Sacred Heart University leads all teams with a combined score of 596.

Senior Chris DeCarlo (Manchester, CT/Manchester) picked it up yesterday and seems to be playing his best golf after putting up a very strong one-over-par 73 yesterday afternoon that put him in a tie for 29th overall.

Next in the clubhouse was senior Charles Lupardo (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) who fired off a ten-over-par 82 - one stroke over the 81 he shot in the opening round - good enough for 45th place going into the third and final round.

Just three strokes behind Lupardo is fellow senior Peter Aloisio (Floral Park, NY/Archbishop Molloy) who shot a second round 83, pitting him alone in 47th place. Sophomore Christopher Fourman (Greenville, OH/Greenville) is in a tie with fellow Seahawk sophomore Chris Meehan (Scotch Plains, NJ/Morristown Beard) at 48th.

Fourman shot a second round 88 while Meehan shot an 86.

Day three of the 2007 NEC Men's Golf Championship got under way at 7:27 a.m. this morning. The conference championship is a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding the team's four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers are selected as all-NEC performers.
