Cross Country Squads Take Part in NCAA Northeast Region Championship

Staten Island, NY - Wagner College cross country was back in action this past Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts for the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. The women's squad finished in 32nd place out of 38 teams while the men's side failed to qualify as a team due to a lack of runners.

For the women, sophomore Meaghan Robbins (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne) paced the Seahawks with a 134th place finish in the 6K race in 23:32.4. Not far behind was junior Maris Reutzel (Meadville, PA/Meadville HS) in 146th place tallying a time of 23:40.1. Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) was the top freshman finisher for Wagner in 167th place ending at a time of 24:05.2. Other finishers for the Seahawks included Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) in 207th place with a time of 24:57.0, Megan Melvin (Staten Island, NY/St. Joe's by the Sea) in 219th place and a time of 25:17.7, and right behind Melvin rounding things out was Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) in 25:21.0.

On the men's side, junior Kyle Sultzer (Archbald, PA/Valley View) led the way in the 10K run with a 120th place finish in a time of 33:11.0. Freshman Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) was one of three Seahawks to crack the top-200 landing in 186th place (34:40.4). Only a few seconds behind was Andrew Keating (Riverside, RI/Mount Saint Charles) coming in with a time of 34:53.0. Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) rounded things out for the Green & White taking 228th place with a time of 36:37.8

The Seahawks are next in action this Saturday, November 19 for the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York. Start time is scheduled for 10:00 am.
