Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College cross country squads took part in the Central Connecticut State University mini-meet at Stanley Quarter Park over the weekend. The men picked up a 3rd place finish out of seven teams while the women failed to qualify for a team score as they only had four runners competing.

Pacing a balanced men's attack was sophomore Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) who tallied a fourth place finish with a time of 15:57 on the 5K run. Not far behind in ninth place was junior Kyle Sultzer (Archbald, PA/Valley View) with a time of 16:15. The Green & White landed two other runners in the top 20 with another junior Andrew Casas (Staten Island, NY/St. Joe's by the Sea) finishing in 16th place (16:28) while right behind Casas in 17th place (16:33) was classmate Andrew Keating (Riverside, RI/Mount Saint Charles). Other Wagner finishers included a couple of freshman in Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) (17:17), and Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) (17:18). Daniel McCartney (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) (19:01) and J.P. Pablo (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) (19:08) running in his first race of the year rounded things out for the Seahawks.

On the women's side freshman Meaghan Robbins (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne) led the way with a 17th place finish registering a time of 11:55 in the 3,200 meter race. The Seahawks placed another runner in the top 25 when junior Maris Reutzel (Meadville, PA/Meadville HS) landed in 24th place ending with a time of 12:05. The two other Green & White runners consisted of freshmen Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) and Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) ending in 38th and 69th place clocking in at 12:21 and 13:20 respectively.

Next up for Wagner are the NEC Championships on October 29, which will be held in Loretto, PA starting at 11am.
