Halwani and Drager Lead Cross Country at Albany



Juniors Ryan Rogers and Ashely Mallen

Albany, NY - Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) and Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) led the Wagner men's and women's cross country teams as they competed in the 41st annual Albany Cross Country Invitational. The men's team finished 12th out of 26 teams while the women came in 17th out of 29.

Halwani set the pace in this early morning run by finishing in 17th place with a time of 25:48. Following Halwani was freshman stud Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) finishing in 47th place at 26:31, shaving over two minutes off his previous 8K time last week. Rounding out the men's side of the action is sophomore James Johnson (Middle Island, NY/Xaverian) in 63rd, freshman Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) in 87th, junior Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) in 88th, junior Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) in 123rd with freshman Brian Doxey (West Islip, NY/West Islip) coming in 133rd out of the 228 men who ran.

Drager continues to pace the women with a 35th place finish, running 18:40 on this 5K course. Senior Meghan Robbins (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne) was right behind her coming in 65th place only 32 seconds behind with a time of 19:12. As for the rest of the women, junior Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) placed 92nd, sophomore Jenna Naglieri (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) in 125th, senior Samantha Snukis (St. Clair, PA/Nativity BVM) in 131st, sophomore Nicole Panik (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) in 137th and junior Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) came in 139th out of the 239 women running.

The Seahawks get back into action next Saturday at a pivotal meet at Central Connecticut State at the CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, CT.
