Wagner Women Finish 6th, Men 14th at Metropolitan Championships

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College cross country squads were back in action after a few weeks off, running in the 2005 New York Metropolitan Conference Championships. The run which was held at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York saw the Green & White women tally a sixth place finish while the men ended in 14th place.

Leading the way for the women was freshman Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) who came in 23rd place with a time of 20:12. Senior Maris Reutzel (Meadville, PA/Meadville, HS) was not far behind with a 29th place finish clocking in at 20:26. Right behind Reutzel in 30th place was another freshman Meaghan Robbins (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne). Other finishers for the Seahawks included Megan Melvin (Staten Island, NY/St. Joe's by the Sea) and Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) who came in 37th and 44th place respectively with times of 20:56 and 21:16.

As for the men, sophomore Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) led the pack of Wagner runners finishing in 53rd place with a time of 28:25. Kyle Sultzer (Archbald, PA/Valley View) cracked the top 70 with a 69th place finish at a time of 29:18. Also finishing for the Seahawks were Andrew Keating (Riverside, RI/Mount Saint Charles) in 75th place with a time of 29:40 and freshmen Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/ William Henry Harrison) in 80th place at 30:18 and Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) with an 85th place finish at 30:43

Next up for Wagner is the Central Connecticut State mini-meet which will take place on October 22 at Stanley Quarter Park starting at 1pm.
