Seahawks Compete In Red Flash Invitational :: Women Finish Eighth, Men Ninth

Loretto, PA - The Wagner College Cross Country squads took part in the Red Flash Invitational this past Saturday hosted by St. Francis University. The women led the Green & White with an eighth place finish in their 5K race while the men finished in ninth in their 8K race.

On the women's side it was business as usual as they received another solid performance from Freshman Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) who tallied a 20th place finish with a time of 21:09. The upperclassmen were anchored by Senior Megan Melvin (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph's by the Sea) who tallied a 43rd place finish clocking in with a time of 22:17. All together Wagner had four runners finish in the top 50.

As for the men Sophomore Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island,NY/Xaverian) spearheaded the Wagner effort with a 21st place finish in a time of 27:37. Senior Andrew Casas (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph's by the Sea) was not too far behind Halwani with his 43rd place finish timed at 28:56. The top Freshman performance for the Seahawks was from Allen Koehler (Okeana,OH/William Henry Harrison) who registered a 92nd place finish with a time of 32:30.

Wagner will next be in action at the Metropolitan Championships on October 7 at 1pm. The Championships are being held at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, NY.
