July 31, 2007 Staten Island, NY- Wagner head track & field and cross country coach Joe Stasi has announced the hiring of Amanda Jenkins and Jessica Stephan as assistant coaches for the upcoming season. "I am very happy with both additions to the staff," said Stasi. "Our track and field program is very strong this year and I feel that by adding Amanda and Jessica as coaches, we will be able to utilize their knowledge with the athletes to help them maximize their potential." Jenkins is a recent graduate from Mount St. Mary's University with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry/Biochemistry. At the Mount she dominated the track & field landscape winning seven NEC crowns, including four-straight indoor-titles in the pole vault and three more during the outdoor season. Additionally, she was a standout in the classroom earning First Team Academic All American by ESPN the Magazine. She has also participated in the NCAA East Regional in Pole Vault four years in a row and is the school-record holder in the indoor and outdoor pole vault. She also ran a leg on the 4x400 indoor team that holds the school-mark. Stephan graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Health and Wellness. On the track, she was awarded the 2006 Big Ten Sportsmanship award, the 2005-2006 Tracy Chestnut Scholarship, the 2003 Blue Collar and Coaches awards and was the Track and Field Captain for the 2005 and 2006 season. She ranks fifth on the all-time outdoor list in the weight throw, ninth in the discus and 10th in the hammer throw for the Golden Gophers. |
