Lewisburg, PA - Junior Alaina Alfano (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) and freshman Coleman Edmond (Kingston, NY/Harmony Prep (MI)) set new school records at the Gulden Relays held by Bucknell University. Alfano bested the record she previously had in 2007 in the long jump by .13 meters with a 5.77 meter leap and easily qualifies for the ECAC Championships. This performance was good enough for first place as she also captured fifth place in the 60m hurtles (9.21 seconds), seventh place in the 60m dash (8.11 seconds) and was part of the third place 4x200 meter relay team that crossed the finish line at 1:48.88. Edmond posted a qualifying time of 7.03 in the 60m dash and a finals time of 7.07, good for fifth place in the event. His effort breaks the 7.10 mark set by Jason DeGennaro in 2006. The Seahawks had other exceptional non-record breaking results in a meet that had no team scoring. Senior Bryan Pagliuca (Ronkonkoma, NY/Connetquo) pulled out a first place bound in the high jump, pushing himself to 2.00 meters. Freshman Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA) lifted herself 3.30 meters in the pole vault, good for a third place finish while sophomore Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) put together a third place performance in the triple jump, leaping 10.81 meters. Senior Jocelyn Ford (Neptune, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) pulled out a 1:20.73 fifth place run in the 500 meter dash while the women's 4x800 relay team placed second in the event at 9.53.84 and the men's 4x200 relay team placed 3rd at 1:34.63. The Seahawks return to action January 18th in the NYC Gotham Cup in New York, NY. |
