Volleyball Inks Two Athletes Early
OREM, Utah - Utah Valley State head volleyball coach Sam Atoa added some help on the front line as he signed outside hitter Kari Heers and middle blocker Kristin Bromley to Letter of Intents during the early signing period. Both athletes will come in as freshman for the Wolverines next season. Heers, a 5-9 outside hitter out of Honoka'a High School in Honoka'a, Hawaii was a highly touted athlete, and made her senior season her best. For her accomplishments Heers was named First Team All-League and voted the -BIIF Player of the Year,- by league's coaches. As a junior Heers was named to the All-League honorable mention squad. Heers is also a starter on the Honokaa High women's basketball team. -Kari (Heers) is a very good athlete, and has a great knowledge of the game, said Atoa. -She has great work ethic on and off the court and is going to help us tremendously. Bromley, a 6-3 middle blocker out of Dixie High School in St. George, Utah is expected to be a contributor for the Wolverines in the future. Like Heers she is a two-sport athlete for the Dixie Flyers playing both volleyball and basketball. Atoa is excited about her ability to help the Wolverines down the road. -We are excited about Kristen's (Bromley) athletic ability and potential,- said Atoa. -Two or three years from now she is going to be very good.- Utah Valley State finished its second season of NCAA Division I competition with a very respectable 11-16 overall record.
