Volleyball Hosts Montana State, Texas-Pan American This Weekend

Location: Orem, Utah ~ Shurian Family Activity Center What's on Tap: It will be the final home matches in the careers of seniors Brooke Adams, Lacee Koelliker and Stephanie McFarland. On Saturday night, a pre-match ceremony will honor the three seniors. Wolverine Update: Both matches were revenge games for the Wolverines, after losing to both schools on a recent road trip. Heading into this week, junior MB Jessica Endres was leading all D-I Independent players in hitting percentage with a .342 average. Camie Manwill is second among Independents with a 4.25 kills per game average and Lacee Koelliker is 3rd in assists at 11.35 per game. Koelliker currently has 942 assists so far in 2006 and should reach the 1,000 assist plateau this weekend. It will be the 3rd time in four seasons that she will reach 1,000 assists. She is also 171 assists away from reaching 4,000 for her career. Scouting the Opposition: MSU is led by Kim Stonehouse's 3.25 kills per game. Three other Bobcats average at least two kills per game. Texas-Pan American: The Broncs (4-21) will try to avenge an earlier season loss to Utah Valley on September 30th, a 3-0 Wolverine sweep. Heather Bravo (3.92 kpg) and Kellie Phillips (3.20 kpg) lead the offensive attack for UTPA. The Broncs have lost nine straight matches with two to go before next week's D-I Independent tournament. Up Next: UV finished the 2005 season on a school record eight match winning streak, earning head coach Sam Atoa the 2005 D-I Independent Coach of the Year award. |
