Broadbent Earns Independent Player of the Week Honor

OREM, Utah - Utah Valley freshman Kayli Broadbent has been named the Division I Independent Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Wolverines to a 2-1 mark last week. Broadbent had 52 kills (4.73 kpg) and hit .344 as Utah Valley lost at BYU and won twice at CSU Bakersfield. In a five-game win at Bakersfield on Saturday, she set a career high with 26 kills and hit .407 to go along with three aces, one block solo and six block assists, totaling 33.0 points (6.6 ppg). It's the third straight week that a Utah Valley player has won the offensive player of week award after both Jessica Endres (offensive) and Allyce Wilson (defensive) won the awards the past two weeks. NJIT libero Sabrina Baby was named the defensive player of the week. Utah Valley is back on the court on Thursday when Boise State comes to Orem. The team travels to Edinburg, Texas for a match at Texas-Pan American on Saturday night. |
