Allyce Wilson Earns Independent Player of the Week Honors

Orem, Utah - Utah Valley sophomore Allyce Wilson has been named the Division I Independent Player of the Week after last weekend's performance at the UVU/LaQuinta Inn & Suites Invitational. The libero/setter was named the Defensive MVP of the invitational after totaling 92 digs in three matches for an average of 6.13 digs per game. "She's absolutely just a hard worker and goes after every single ball," said head coach Sam Atoa. "I'm excited for her and her accomplishment and about what she's going to continue to do to help our success in the future." Wilson set a new school record for Utah Valley when she racked up 39 digs in a five-game win over San Jose State. She also had 31 digs in a win over in-state rival Weber State. Wilson leads all independent players in digs per game with an average of 5.62 per game. The weekly Division I Independent Player of the Week award is nominated and voted on by sports information directors at the seven independent schools.
