UV Hosts BYU on Senior Day
May 7, 2007 Orem, UT- The Utah Valley State softball team concludes the 2007 season on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they host the BYU Cougars on Senior Day. Tuesday will be the final game for seniors Jackie Roberts and Cari Hamilton. Roberts is a three-year player while Hamilton has been at UV two years. Both players transferred from Eastern Oklahoma. Utah Valley comes into Tuesday's contest with a 23-28 record after splitting a doubleheader with Idaho State on Saturday. UV won the first game 13-5 in six innings and lost the second 11-8. Both teams combined to hit 14 homeruns in the two games. Heidi Boyer leads the Wolverines offensive attack with 11 homeruns, 41 RBI and a .400 batting average. Four players are hitting over .300 for Utah Valley. Jackie Roberts leads UV in the circle with an 11-9 record and a 4.06 era. In Roberts last 10 appearances she is 8-2 and boasts a 2.37 era. BYU is 37-17 and leads the Mountain West Conference by two games. Last weekend they had its 16-game winning streak snapped after losing to Colorado State 6-4. BYU has hit a team-record 80 homeruns and rank second in the nation in homeruns-per-game. |
