When did you start playing softball and why?

I've pretty much been playing softball my whole life. I started playing t-ball when I was like 4 or 5. My mom played softball in high school and she actually was a pitcher, like me and she actually sparked my interest in becoming a pitcher. I didn't really have a knack for softball, and I didn't realize I was good at it until I was about 12 or 13 and we started traveling and we were actually starting to win games and that's when I decided that softball was going to be my thing

Tell me about your teammates.

I love my teammates this year. We all get along. All of our personalities mesh really well. Not only do we work together on the field, we also hang out and have a lot of fun off the field. We're also a young team this year. With me being a senior with a number of freshmen it's been an interesting experience, but it's also been a lot of fun.

What's the greatest lesson that you have been taught by your coach here at UVSC?

To be responsible for your own actions and to control what you have control over. Mainly, it's more about being responsible for my own actions, not just on the field, but off the field as well, and I have incorporated it into my schoolwork as well.

What's the greatest lesson your team has taught you over the years?

I've learned that the personalities of my teammates are dynamic and I have to adjust to the different people on the team and I've learned how to be friends with everyone, even if we have differences.

What was your reason for choosing UVSC?

I wanted to be closer to home. Plus, Coach Fairbourne and I, we had the same goals and ideas about the game and I knew right away that he was going to be straightforward and get right to the point. I really respected that. Once I saw that he was straightforward, that's when I decided that UVSC was for me.

What is your greatest UVSC moment?

My ultimate favorite moment was beating BYU last year. It was a goal of mine. I wanted to do it while I was here at UVSC and to do it in the senior game last year made it all that much greater of a win. It was also a goal that I had reached for myself and that was really great.

What sport would you play if you didn't play softball?

I think I would play golf. I was never that good at it, but I think if I put in the time and effort, that I could really do well in golf. My sister plays golf for Weber State and so I've had a small glimpse at golf on the collegiate level and I think I would enjoy it.

Do you have any favorite sports teams?

I'm a total Yankee fan. I can't deny it. I get so much crap for it all the time, but I love them.

Do you have any sports plans after graduation?

This summer I plan to go to Australia and compete on a national team. It's called the Australia Friendship Series. It's a ten-day trip. It's not only to create friendships with other countries, it's also like an ambassador program and we get to meet other teams from other schools.

What do you want to do with your major?

Since I was in high school I wanted to be a physical therapist. I wanted to pick a major that would meet the requirements for physical therapy school and that would be fun for me. Exercise science ended up being just perfect for me. The staff and faculty here at UVSC have been a lot of fun. I have really enjoyed them.

Who has been the most influential person in your life?

My mom. She's always inspired me and she's taught me to weigh pro's and con's when making decisions in my life.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

When I have spare time and the weather's nice, I like to go golfing. I really like going to baseball games. I also like watching television. I watch reality drama, like the OC, Laguna Beach, and all those really lame reality shows.

What's your favorite movie?

A League of Their Own

What's your favorite comfort food?

Five Buck Pizza

What's something unique about you that a lot of other people don't know about you?

When I'm really set on doing something, I do it to the fullest. I'm not one of those people that does it part way. I'm always going to do my best and I'm a little obsessive about it. If it's not exactly how I want it, I get frustrated with it and have to change so it's a 100% effort on my part.
