OREM, Utah - After a 2-1 start to its United Soccer Conference season last week, Utah Valley takes a break from conference play as the Wolverines return home to host Utah Wednesday afternoon at Wolverine Field.

"The team has been working very hard and I feel that we have made some significant strides over the past week," head coach Brent Anderson said. "I feel that the team has renewed energy and the girls are very focus for the match up this weekend against a very good Utah team."

The home match with the Utes comes in a stretch where the Wolverines have played 11 of 13 matches on the road. After the Utah Valley-Utah match, UV will head back out on the road for four straight.

Utah enjoys a 2-0 series record against the Wolverines. The last time the two teams matched up was in Sept. 2005 when the Utes cruised to a 3-0 victory. A year prior, the two teams played a much more competitive match, with Utah winning 2-1 in Salt Lake City. Utah is the second of three in-state opponents the Wolverines have faced in this year's regular season.

This season marks the first time the Utes will make the 40-minute trip from Salt Lake to play in Orem. The two previous series matches were played in Salt Lake City.

The Utah Valley schedule does not get any easier as the Wolverines will head south to finish this week with matches at Dixie State and UNLV. The Wolverines are 1-1-1 all-time against Dixie State, including a 1-1 tie in a game that was suspended during regulation due to threatening weather. UV lost its only previous match against UNLV, 3-0 in 2004.

Next week the Wolverines will also be on the road to take on former USC foes, North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
