Wolverines Host Dixie State

OREM, UT- The Utah Valley State soccer team plays its home opener on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Division II Dixie State. This is Dixie's first year as a NCAA Division II program after making the jump from the junior college ranks.

The Wolverines are 2-3 and coming off a 3-0 loss to Boise State on Wednesday. Utah Valley's two wins are over Tulsa and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Chelsea Stone and Rebecca Petersen lead the Wolverines with two goals and one assist. Brooke Roberts also has two goals on the young season. Petersen was named United Soccer Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday for scoring two goals and dishing out an assist in a 6-0 win over NJIT.

Dixie is 4-1 after suffering its first loss of the season on Thursday to Cal-Baptist. Dixie has four players who have scored two goals on the season. The Rebels also have six players on their roster from Utah County in Shantae and Shayla Adams (Timpanogos), Mikala Wilkes (Lone Peak), Jessica Nelson (Timpanogos), Suzanne Hunt (Lehi) and Allana Snowden (Timpanogos).

Following Saturday's game the Wolverines play at Idaho next Friday.
