Wolverines Fall to South Dakota State in a Shootout
Nov. 3, 2006
Washington D.C.- The Utah Valley State soccer team suffered a heart breaking loss to South Dakota State in the semi-finals of the United Soccer Conference tournament on Friday. The score was knotted at zero following regulation and two overtime periods. South Dakota State then beat the Wolverines 3-1 in shoot out to earn the win. The loss ends Utah Valley's season with an 8-11-1 record "It was a good game," Utah Valley State coach Brent Anderson said. "This is just a tough way to lose a game. Our defenders played well and were under good pressure all game. They did not allow any clean shots on goal. We created more dangerous opportunities on goal. " After the 20 minute overtime period, the Wolverines missed two of their three penalty kicks while South Dakota hit all three. Jenni Wright converted the first kick for the Wolverines but Courtney Robbins and Megan Berrett each missed their kicks. |
