UV Drops 1-0 OT Decision to Eastern Washington

Sept. 28, 2006

Box Score

Orem, UT- The Utah Valley State soccer team lost a tough 1-0 overtime contest to Eastern Washington on Thursday. After a scoreless regulation, Eastern Washington's Shelly Ikerd scored on a scramble inside the box off a pass from Cyeeta Mott in the 99th minute to earn the golden-goal win.

"It was a tough loss," Utah Valley State coach Brent Anderson said. "I was proud of the effort we put in. We are putting in enough effort to win but the technique just isn't there and that is something we'll continue to work on. Eastern Washington put a better game than us in the second half."

The loss dropped the Wolverines to 4-6-1 while Eastern Washington improved to 3-6-1.

Utah Valley had plenty of opportunities to score has they out shot Eastern Washington 19-13 and UV had 10 shots on goal to EWU's five.

"We are creating opportunities," Anderson said. "We are just not finishing."

The Wolverines will look to get back into the win column on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host Idaho State at Wolverine Field. An entire family can get into the game for $15.
