UV Scores Early and Often in 7-0 Win over Westminster

Aug. 25, 2006

Orem, UT - The Utah Valley State soccer team concluded its exhibition season with a convincing 7-0 win over Westminster College on Saturday.

"They are a developing team," Utah Valley State coach Brent Anderson said. "You have to remember Utah Valley State was once in their shoes. Our team has come along way in our expectations. We are going to keep moving forward."

Jenni Wright led the Wolverines with two goals and five other Utah Valley players added goals in the game.

"I was pleased that we had a lot of goals scored by a number of different players," Anderson said. "We had three goals scored by defenders."

Along with Wright, Alyssa Woodbury, Mallory Schott, Capri Stevens, April Graf and Adrienne Schneider all tallied goals in the game.

"This builds our confidence," Anderson said. "It is good for us to score goals and win games. This gives us an idea of what we are capable of when we play soccer. We had a game plan today and the girls followed through with it. We are maturing as a team and learning the system."

Utah Valley led 5-0 at halftime and added its final two in the 61 st and 85 minute.

Utah Valley opens the 2006 regular season next weekend in a tournament at the University of Wyoming. The Wolverines play Montana on Friday and Tulsa on Sunday.
