Wolverines Wrap Up Fall Season at Cal Poly Invitational

Final Results

Arroyo Grande, California - The Utah Valley State women's golf team finished the fall season with a 15th place finish out of 19 teams at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, California.

The Wolverines landed three shots behind 14th place Idaho State, ending up in the same spot they began the day in.

Echo Thatcher show the low round of the day for Utah Valley, a 9-over, 82, and tied teammate Ashley Baldwin with an overall score of 170 over the two-day tournament. Both golfers finished tied for 56th.

Kasey Larson shot and 86 and finished the tournament tied for 68th with Shari Johnson shooting 89, tied for 82nd.

Whitney Drumright, who shot Monday's low round for UV, was forced to withdraw after having an allergic reaction to a bee sting. She left the course and had to go to the hospital to receive treatment.

"I think we saw some positive things," said assistant coach Rob Dean. "We are still so raw and inexperienced but the improvement that we made definitely leaves us room for optimism heading into the spring."

Jennifer Bermingham of UC Riverside shot an even par 73 defeat UC Davis' Sydney Roughton by five strokes in taking the individual crown.

UC Davis took home the individual championship, finishing with a team score of 612, nine strokes ahead of Sacramento State.

It was the final tournament of the fall season for Utah Valley State. They will back in action in on February 12-13 at the UC Riverside "Lady Braveheart" at Oak Valley GC in Beaumont, California.
