Wolverines Wrap up First Tournament of Fall Season

Flagstaff, Arizona - Utah Valley State wrapped up its first tournament of 2006 on Tuesday in the second and final round of the NAU Mountain Shootout. Junior Echo Thatcher led the Wolverines with an 8-over 81, tying her for 26th. She shot a 9-over 82 in Monday's opening round. "This was our first tournament and it was a good learning experience," said Utah Valley assistant coach Rob Dean. "We still have some progress to make but we're seeing improvement. We're ahead of where we were last year." Cal Poly won the tournament by 11 strokes over Ferris State University. San Diego State's Anna Booth took first individually after finishing at +2, one shot better than teammate Maki Kamimura. San Diego State was not participating as part of the team tournament. The Wolverines will next take on Idaho State in a dual at Talons Cove in Saratoga Springs on October 16th. |
