Record Day for Thatcher at LaQuinta Mountain Shootout
Sept. 18, 2007
Orem, Utah - Utah Valley's Echo Thatcher shot a 77 (+5) on her way to setting three personal records at the LaQuinta Mountain Shootout in Flagstaff, Arizona. The senior golfer finished a career best 7th while also shooting her best round (77) and two-round (159) totals. "She's really comfortable with her game right now. She's learned how to bounce back well from a bad hole and not let it affect her," said head coach Denise Larson. "I don't have to worry about her on the course. It's nice to have that work-horse that leads the way and that others can follow." The Wolverines finished in 7th place out of nine teams, after shooting a 334 on the second day to finish with a two-day total of 675. UV finished 28 shots better than the 8th place team. Ashley MacKay finished 25th after equaling her 1st round score of 83. Abbie Lei Archibald finished tied for 38th while Kasey Larson tied for 40th and Jade Dickson tied for 45th. Northern Arizona's Sophia Choi took home the individual crown by five strokes after shooting a 75. NAU also won the team title by one shot over New Mexico State. The two schools started the day in a tie for first. Up next for the Wolverines is the Weber State Invitational on Friday at Davis Park Golf Course in Layton, Utah on Friday, September 21st.
