Thatcher 12th After Opening Round of LaQuinta Mountain Shootout

Flagstaff, Arizona - Utah Valley golfer Echo Thatcher is six shots back of the top spot after one round of the LaQuinta Mountain Shootout at Aspen Valley Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona. Thatcher shot an opening round 82 on Monday in windy conditions and sits in a tie for 12th overall while teammate Ashley MacKay shot and 83 and is tied for 17th. As a team, the Wolverines shot a 341 and are 7th out of nine teams, but sit closer to third place than they do the eighth spot. Abbie Lei Archibald shot an 87 and is tied for 31st with Kasey Larson in 37th after shooting 89 and Jade Dickson tied for 40th after an opening round of 92. Host Northern Arizona shot 324 and is tied for the lead with New Mexico State. NAU golfer Sophia Choi is one shot ahead of San Diego State's Jackie Kazarian for the individual lead after an opening round of 76. The final round will take place beginning tomorrow morning.
