Women's Golf See Improvement on First Day of Bobcat Invitational

Goodyear, Arizona - Utah Valley women's golf shot its lowest round so far this spring in Monday's opening round of the Bobcat Invitational at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The Wolverines shot a 343 led by 84's from Echo Thatcher and Ashley Baldwin at the invitational hosted by Montana State. They are tied with Idaho State for 19th. "I thought we played well and hung in there," said coach Denise Larson. "We're hoping to see even more improvement today and that really is all we can ask at this point...that we continue to learn and grow and progress as a team." Kasey Larson shot an 87 and Shari Johnson an 88 as four UV golfers finished in the 80's and accounted for the overall team score. Cal Poly leads the tournament after shooting a 301 on the opening day. The second round takes place today beginning at 1pm MT with the third and final round tomorrow morning. |
