Utah Valley will try and continue its record start this week with games at Montana State on Wednesday and at in-state rival BYU on Saturday. The Wolverines are 8-0 for the first time in school history and have won 11 games in a row dating back to last season.

Wednesday's game against Big Sky school Montana State will tip-off at 7pm while Saturday's game in Provo has been pushed back a half hour and will start at 5pm MT. Both games can be heard live at WolverineGreen.com.

Junior Sandy Marvin was named the Division I Independent Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Wolverines to the championship at the Air Force Classic. Marvin averaged 24.0 points per game in wins over Ohio (83-81) and host Air Force (78-68).

Marvin, along with Robyn Fairbanks, who won the player of the week award the first two weeks of the season, have made it a Utah Valley sweep so far this season.

The Wolverines won twice last weekend at the United States Air Force Academy, bringing home the 12th Annual Air Force Classic Championship. Marvin earned most valuable player honors after averaging 24 points and five rebounds. Teammate Robyn Fairbanks was named to the all-tournament team as she averaged 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in the tournament.

The Wolverines defeated Ohio in the opening game thanks to a Fairbanks' lay up on an assist from Hollie Beaman with 6.9 seconds remaining. Fairbanks had 28 points while Marvin had 24 and Beaman finished with a season-high seven assists.

The following day, Utah Valley survived a late run from host Air Force and held on for a 78-68 win. The Wolverines led 55-38 only to see the Falcons get within one point just minutes later.

But Julie McMurray and Rebekah Peterson combined on three consecutive three-pointers to push the lead back to 10. McMurray tied a school record with five three's while Marvin hit four on her way to 24 points and the tournament MVP.
