Orem, Utah - Utah Valley State center Robyn Fairbanks was named Division-I Independent Player of the Week on Tuesday after averaging 23.7 points and 12 rebounds per game as the Wovlerines were a perfect 3-0 last week. The Canadian sophomore had 17 points and 13 rebounds in a win over San Diego State and 21 points and nine rebounds in an 84-57 win over Southern Virginia. She capped off the week with a career high 33 points to go along with 14 boards in Saturday's victory over New Mexico State. She shot 30-for-45 (.667) from the field during the week. It's the third time Fairbanks has won the award in her career after winning twice during the 2005-06 season. She is currently ranked 5th nationally and 1st among all D-I Independent players in scoring with a 22.7 ppg average. |
